Bridge the gap between technical scientific knowledge and more general understanding in order to enable effective action.
To make better decision making possible, we connect relevant scientific research with stakeholders and decision-making communities. We facilitate the translation of technical scientific knowledge and using this knowledge to support action particularly regarding the constellation of issues associated with climate change.
Earth’s climate is changing and decision makers from all walks of life face challenges in adapting to the resulting impacts. Whether it is farmers deciding when to irrigate their fields, city managers upgrading storm-water run-off systems, or state highway authorities planning to build a new bridge – decision makers everywhere require science-based guidance in the face of a changing climate.
We assist clients in connecting the latest scientific information with their decision-making needs around climate change adaptation and resilience building. This involves the development of frameworks, plans, and policies aimed at improving adaptation and increasing resilience to environmental change, as well as evaluation of the effectiveness of adaptation actions.
We provide our clients with scientific, technical, policy, and programmatic advice, guidance, and analyses on a wide array of science and technical issues. This guidance includes technical oversight of science-based communications, outreach activities, program planning, and climate assessment. Our team has extensive experience in climate and atmospheric sciences and their connection to policy issues. We utilize this expertise to ensure scientific integrity for our clients, and to provide guidance on project management, in particular for scientific writing projects. We can provide technically sound guidance for collaborators and clients on navigating the interface between scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders.
We specialize in development of strategic plans and related implementation plans for its clients at the project, program, or organizational scale and build bridges between these levels of planning. We work with our clients' specific needs to determine what level of strategy or implementation planning is most appropriate and develop goals, objectives, and priorities collaboratively with clients. We then ensure that implementable deliverables and outputs sync appropriately with the overall strategy.
Project examples include: mission, vision, goal, and objective concepts, strategic frameworks, organizational and governance arrangements, prioritization processes for implementation, and roadmaps for deliverables and milestones.
We provide consultation and development of strategic communications plans that enable clients to effectively communicate their messages and approaches more effectively. Our communication services and expertise cover a variety of subjects, including the impacts and effects of climate change, the nuances of climate science, and the intricacies of Arctic science and policy.
Effective communication efforts require accurate, timely, and focused information tailored to meet the marketing and outreach needs of many different audiences. We can assist clients in developing frameworks for collecting, prioritizing, and delivering relevant, credible, practical, and responsive information. We also work with clients to ensure that they are effectively conveying this information, utilizing the right communications tools and mediums for their specific stakeholders.
In addition, we assist clients in reviewing and/or developing specific communications materials. As examples, our team has extensive experience preparing public communications materials (presentations, fact sheets, websites, social-media engagement strategy and messaging), testimony to Congress, and high-level briefings for various federal and international organizations including the Arctic Council and the White House.
